At the end of the last century, two historic "Flying Yellow Events" were held in Ji County on the east bank of the Yellow River, which brought the Hukou to the world.
On June 1st, 1997, as a tribute to the motherland for the return of Hong Kong, Asian flyer Ke Shouliang drove his car to stay in the air for 1.58 seconds, cutting a beautiful arc in the air and leaping over the Mother River at Hukou. With over 100,000 people on both sides of the Yellow River, the live broadcast on CCTV 1, 4 and 8 and Phoenix Chinese Channel enabled 96 countries and regions around the world and nearly 3 billion people to witness this amazing feat on television.
On June 20th, 1999, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of New China and the return of Macau to the motherland, Zhu Zhaohui, a mountain boy born and raised in Ji County, drove a motorbike and successfully flew over the Hukou Waterfall on the Mother River, becoming the first person to fly over the Yellow River on a motorbike, which was another human leap over the Yellow River after Ke Shouliang flew over it.
