Hukou Waterfall Tourism Area is listed as a national key scenic spot and 4A-level scenic spot. It is adjacent to Hukou Town, Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province in the West and Jixian County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province in the East. It is a tourist attraction shared by the two provinces.

It is 350 kilometers away from Xi'an, Shaanxi Province in the South; 387 kilometers away Taiyuan, Shanxi Province in the North. Hukou waterfall is a natural waterfall formed when the middle reaches of the Yellow River flows through the Shanxi-Shaanxi Gorge. It is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest yellow waterfall in the world. The Yellow River flows here, with steep stone cliffs on both banks and a narrow mouth like pot sprout, so it is called Hukou Waterfall.
