Four Wonders of Hukou
Four Wonders of Hukou
- Smoking in Water
"Smoking in water" is the unique landscape of Hukou Waterfall. The billowing water of the Yellow River rushed to the mouth of the pot, condensed sharply, hung upside down and poured into the deep pool, rolling up and down in the deep pool, and the water mist rose up and down, floating in the air, covering both sides of the bank, like clouds and smoke. From a distance, it looks like a cloud of smoke hovering over the sky, as if to put a dress as thin as a cicada's wings on the Hukou Waterfall. The ancient poem said: "Collect a pot of water, and release clouds to cover half the sky." Visitors looking at the Hukou Waterfall in the shadow of smoke are like entering a dream world, mysterious and colorful, with thousands of dreams. The Liu Longguang in the Qing Dynasty said in a poem: "The thirsty horse rushes closely towards the spring, and the mountainous thunder shakes the valley. When you enter, you can’t see the mountain, but suddenly there are clouds and smoke generated." It is the true portrayal of this wonderful landscape.
- Colorful Bridge to the Sky
"Colorful Bridge to the Sky" is another wonderful view of Hukou Waterfall. In Hukou, watching the rainbow has become a yearning for tourists. The waterfall flies straight down and falls into the dragon trough with water splashing, clouds and mist rising. After the sunlight, you will see a red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue, blue, and purple, seven-color rainbow with clear boundaries, clear outlines, dazzling and hanging over the waterfall. "There is a dragon at the bottom of the water raising huge waves, and there is no rain on the shore but a rainbow hanging." The poem “Chant to Hukou” written by Zhang Yingchun in Ming Dynasty describes the beauty of "colorful bridges to the sky". In the folk, based on the beautiful scenery, there is a folk legend that this rainbow is the incarnation of a dragon: In ancient times, a couple of young man and woman fell in love across the river and couldn't met each other. When they met, the Dragon King was moved and turned into a rainbow bridge for lovers to meet on the bridge every day.
- Dragons Playing with Waves
Watching the Hukou Waterfall, the most spectacular sight is "dragons playing with waves".The surging Yellow River water suddenly converged from more than 300 meters to 50 meters and poured into the stone trough with a drop of more than 30 meters, forming a mad dragon, leaping into the mouth of the pot, releasing infinite power and arousing thousands of water waves. The water waves rushed south along the Shili Dragon Trough, and the white waves followed along the way. It is like a group of dragons holding their heads and tails up, leaping over the river and overwhelming the sea, riding on clouds and covering the rain. Suddenly the world is widened, and then the waves head straight to the dragon gate.
- Thunder Generated From Valley Stream
Many tourists sit quietly on the shore of the waterfall, feeling the shock of the turbulent waves hitting the shore, bathing in the softness of the misty rain, listening to the sound of thunder, and immersing in the melody "the wind is howling, the horse is crying, and the yellow river is roaring", recalling the historical situation and comprehending the true meaning of life. All inspire patriotic enthusiasm, national self-confidence, and endeavour strength.
The roar of the Hukou Waterfall slamming the rocks can be heard in a radius of ten miles. Moreover, regardless of the scorching sun or the cold wind, day and night, like thunder, it is called "thunder generated from valley stream", also known as "Thunder Rain Cave." The thunder in the valley stream has the roar of a waterfall falling and the clicking sound of waves rolling over, making people feel like roars when angry, and sometimes like calls when excited. Anyone who comes to visit the Hukou will exclaim this kind of admiration: "When you arrive at the Hukou, it is enough to hear the thunder of the waves." Many tourists will sit quietly on the shore of the waterfall when they arrive at Hukou, watch the turbulent waves hitting the shore, bathe in the misty rain, listen to the sound of thunder, and immerse in the "wind is roaring, the horse is crying, and the Yellow River is roaring". In the famous lyrics and melody, the true meaning of history and life is comprehended.
