Renzu Mountain

Renzu Mountain, also known as Pao Mountain and Feng Mountain, is located 45 kilometers northwest of Ji County in Linfen, Shanxi Province, and about 20 kilometers southwest of the famous Yellow River Hukou Waterfall. It is about 5 kilometers west of the Yellow River. It is a tall and majestic mountain. Its main peak is 1, 742.4 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 130,000 square kilometers. According to the Chronicles of Ji County (Volume 1 • Mountains and Rivers) published in the fifth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1879): Pao Mountain: It is thirty miles north of the state. From the north to the top, it is thirty miles to the top. Fuxi Temple was built on the top, and two statues of Fuxi and Nuwa were molded. It is said that it is Paoxi's Forbidden City. It is also said that Fuxi began to make marriage rituals, named Renzu. Another name is Renzulu.

The main peak of Renzu Mountain is Renzu Peak, and there is an Renzu Temple, also known as Jinshan Temple. It covers an area of 0.3 hectares and was built with a harem, a pavilion, a Le Building, and a monk's residence. There is a platform in the southwest of the mountain called "Chenyun Stone". There is a gate plaque "Fuxi Rock" on the side of the platform. Below the gate, the steps and paths can lead to the peaks. There is a "Baoguang Temple" a mile west from the main peak. It was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. 15 miles southwest of the main peak, there is a "Wind Cloud Cave". The cave is unpredictable, and the wind sounds like thunder in the four seasons. At 29 miles north of the main peak, there is the "Kongshan Temple" commonly known as the Tokulong Temple. There are three small halls, Xuantian Cave, Sanshitu, and Guanyin Cave. On one side, there are 162 stone steps leading to the temple.

To the east of Hukou, about 20 kilometers away from the river bank, there is an ancient mountain. There is an endless thousand-year-old tree. Its leaves can shield from the sun. The scenery is pleasant, and there are many legends. This is the famous Renzu Mountain in the southwestern border of the Loess Plateau. The earliest recorded in the history books is "Historical Records", which said it was a desolate place called Dicheng or Zhaicheng. Jin Wengong lived here for five or six years when he avoided Liji’s disaster, but did not say what the mountain was called. When Li Daoyuan wrote "Shui Jing Explanation" in 527 AD, he said it was called Feng Mountain. Because the legendary Nuwa is a person named Feng, the descendants who wanted to build a relationship between the mount and people whose family name is Feng (approximately before and after the Song Dynasty) said: "The ancestor of the root was in Jizhou" and renamed it Renzu Mountain. Although these claims are somewhat absurd and contrived, the scenery as a place is still protected by the people. Buildings have been added repeatedly. It has been developing towards the legendary human ancestor mountain, leaving many valuable cultural heritage here. The main peak of Renzu Mountain is the Renzu Temple, with an altitude of 1742.4 meters and 16 large and small temples around it.
